As Reproductive Health Collaborative continues to grow our statewide education and outreach capabilities, we’re thrilled to welcome Maria Vasquez as Education Coordinator in Central Nebraska.
Maria is based in Grand Island and will work throughout the Central region, bringing crucial sex education and outreach events to the community in partnership with RHCN’s network providers and other regional collaborators.
“I’m passionate about advancing sexual and reproductive health and education to help increase access to care and accurate information across Nebraska,” says Maria. “I believe everyone, regardless of their background, deserves compassionate, equitable care and the resources they need to make informed decisions about their health. I’m also passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding sexual and reproductive health by fostering open, honest conversations and creating spaces where people feel supported, respected, and empowered.”
Maria, originally from Los Angeles and a Nebraskan since 2018, is fluent in Spanish and brings experience in education, community engagement, leadership development, and relationship building. She previously worked with Grand Island Public Schools, Heartland United Way, and Leadership Unlimited (where she led a leadership development program supporting immigrants and newcomers).
“For most of my career, I’ve been a strong advocate for underrepresented communities,” says Maria. “I hope to continue that work through sexual and reproductive advocacy and quality education, and to provide equitable, safe spaces that support RHCN’s mission growth. I am passionate about working to see stronger, healthier, thriving communities.”
Maria says she’s excited to join RHCN’s team of “passionate individuals who work hard to ensure that we embody our mission and increase advocacy for reproductive health care in various ways.”
