Dr. Adewole Adefalu, Senior Director of Programs & Initiatives

Our team recently welcomed Dr. Adewole “Wole” Adefalu as our new Senior Director of Programs & Initiatives.

He brings 20+ years of broad experience advancing public health initiatives and championing access to sexual and reproductive health care in the U.S. and internationally.

Dr. Adefalu has worked as a physician, educator, strategist, and advisor, and has experience in maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, and more. He’s now committed his time and talents to making a sustainable impact on sexual and reproductive health in Nebraska.

“I am excited to work at Reproductive Health Collaborative of Nebraska because its mission aligns with my passion for advancing equitable sexual and reproductive health,” he said. “The opportunity to strengthen Title X services, build workforce capacity, and collaborate statewide perfectly aligns with my values and experience.”

Dr. Adefalu’s work as a global health leader has brought him to Nigeria, Samoa, Fiji, Micronesia, and the United States. Before moving to Omaha this spring, he was based in Atlanta, Georgia. He’s worked with the United Nations Population Fund, which is the UN’s sexual and reproductive health agency, and on USAID-funded projects.

“My passion for sexual and reproductive health began as a young physician witnessing women die from preventable pregnancy complications, unsafe procedures, and a lack of access to quality care,” he said. “Those experiences shaped my commitment to ensuring all people can make informed choices and access lifesaving services. I have been fortunate to have had the chance, over two decades, to help transform those inequities into opportunities for healthier lives and empowered communities.”

Dr. Adefalu is also a loving father of three, gardening enthusiast, and an ardent subscriber to Reader’s Digest.
